Police are investigating an allegation that a young woman was assaulted in Gainsborough Park, Bury St Edmunds.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at around 10.30pm on Tuesday 19 January. The victim and suspect are known to each other. Officers subsequently arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the allegation. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently released on bail until 15 February, pending further enquiries.

Any witnesses who were in the park on Tuesday evening between 9pm and 11pm, are asked to contact the West SIU in Bury St Edmunds on 101, quoting reference 3068/21.
