28-year-old man charged after stabbing a man in Beck Row

Police have charged a 28-year-old man in connection with an assault with a bladed article that took place in Beck Row.

Officers were called at 6.45pm yesterday, Thursday, 6 August, after a man suffered serious injuries after being assaulted outside the Londis Village Store in Holmsey Green, Beck Row.

A 33-year-old man sustained a serious knife wound to his hand. Paramedics were in attendance and the victim was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by ambulance for treatment. The man is in a stable condition in hospital.

A 30-year-old man was also punched during the incident, suffering minor injuries, while a shop window was also damaged.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man later that evening, 6 August, in Beck Row on suspicion of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The man was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

Wesley Temple of Willow Park, Beck Row, has been charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm.

He will appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Saturday 8 August) and has been remanded in custody.

Officers have been conducting reassurance patrols in the area.
