A14 expected to be closed into the evening after serious collision

The A14 is expected to be closed into the evening after a woman was injured in a road traffic collision.

Police are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision on the A14 in Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds.

The incident happened between junctions 43 in Bury St Edmunds and 47 near Woolpit.

Officers were called just after 5pm today, 16 February, to reports a woman had been seriously injured in a road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway

The eastbound carriageway is currently closed. Highways England are advising us to avoid the area and plan journeys ahead.

A spokesperson from Highways England said “The A14 in Suffolk is closed eastbound between J43 and J47 due to a serious incident. Suffolk Police are currently carrying out investigation work. The closure is expected to remain in place for several hours.

Road users are advised to exit the A14 at J43 St Saviours and follow the A143 through Great Barton to the A1088 roundabout at Ixworth. At the roundabout take the fourth exit and continue on the A1088 through Stowlangoft and Norton to re-join the A14 eastbound carriageway at J47.

Road users planning on making an essential journey in the area are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative routes and to allow additional time for their journey”.
