A patient suspected of carrying COVID – 19 the Coronavirus has been quarantined after attending a GP surgery here in town. The patient entered the Victoria Surgery yesterday afternoon 5.30pm. The patient was rushed to West Suffolk Hospital for testing. Their test results have yet to be returned.

The surgery – which has 10,000 patients, was closed and a deep clean has been carried out.

It comes in the same week as popular GP surgery at Woolpit also had to close following a similar incident. Both surgeries have now reopened.

The public are reminded that should they suspect they might have contracted the virus to call NHS direct on 111 in the first instance and not to attend their doctors surgery or the West Suffolk Hospital but to await advice.
