Hoax caller sparks a major Armed Police response in Bury St Edmunds

Armed Police were called to Bury St Edmunds yesterday, Sunday 3rd November, after a hoax caller made a claim about a gun. 

At just before 1:30pm Suffolk Police and the East of Engand Ambulance service were called to Turnstone Drive in Bury St Edmunds following claims of a firearm incident.

Several police and ambulance vehicles attended the scene alongside an air ambulance. They were seen on stand-by at Sybil Andrews Academy, in Rougham Tower Avenue.

Suffolk Police say that a “police investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the call”.
