Man arrested after King Edwards IV School break in

A man has been arrested following a break-in at King Edwards IV school which resulted in a police chase on the A14.

Police today have cordoned off part of the upper school, based in Grove Road.

Over night police were alerted to someone at the site breaking glass close to the school kitchen, a sum of cash along with food and drink items were stolen. Police pursued the man on the the A14 before he crashed at the Risby junction. A 33-year-old man from London was arrested in the car park of Claas UK and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

The school has remained open today however a spokes person has said ” We are unable to access the area at the moment as we await Scenes of Crime. We do not know when we will get access but until we can we cannot assess the extent of the damage or what catering offer we can provide today”. 

The school is advising parents to send their child to school today with a packed lunch.
