Member of staff at West Suffolk Hospital charged after allegedly planting hidden cameras in toilets

A member of staff at West Suffolk Hospital has been charged with blackmail and voyeurism after it is alleged that they planted hidden cameras in toilets at the Hospital in Bury St Edmunds.

Despite and extensive search, staff are being asked to be vigilant when using toilets at West Suffolk Hospital.

It follows an incident on 11 March where a female victim was filmed in a toilet at West Suffolk hospital in Bury St Edmunds. The victim later received a demand on social media to make a payment of £1000 to an individual.

Following police enquiries a man was arrested yesterday, (Tues 22 March) and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

34 year old Piotr Prasalek of Pemberton Walk in Bury St Edmunds was subsequently charged with making an unwarranted demand with menaces and a second charge of recording a person conducting a private act with the intention of obtaining sexual gratification.

According to a letter sent to staff from interim Chief Executive of West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Craig Black, the hospitals security teams have since checked all toilets for recording devices, none have been found but the trust is still urging staff to be vigilant.
