Suffolk Trading Standards issue warning over fake banking text

Suffolk Trading Standards are warning of a scam purporting to be from international banking giant HSBC.

They have received reports from across the country of businesses being targeted with fake text messages asking recipients to follow links to dubious websites.

A spokesperson from Trading Standards said “These texts have been sent by criminals who have created the fake website to look similar to the HSBC website, with the same branding, layout and font choices.

“DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK.

“If you think you have provided scammers with your financial details, contact your bank immediately.

If you receive what you think is a fake message, forward this, including the phone number or company name, to 7726. It is a free service and allows your phone provider to investigate the sender”.
