West Suffolk Hospital issues statement after staff member posts inappropriate Snapchat story

A member of staff at West Suffolk Hospital has come under fire after a screen grab of a Snapchat story she posted and shared on Facebook.

The staff member posted on her Snapchat story about how she had to deal with a patient disclosing details of the incident and implying that it was a bad start to her nightshift. A number of members of the public took to social media to express their anger at the post with one person saying “how would she feel if this was her Grandad” and another adding “I feel so sorry for the person she’s ‘looking after!’“.

A West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said: “Respect for our patients, and staff professionalism, are paramount at our trust and taken very seriously. We are handling this issue in line with our Trust policy”.

The trust’s policy states that it is unacceptable to post “comments or pictures on social websites/internet/email that could compromise or may bring into disrepute the reputation of individuals or the Trust”.
