18-year-old man charged and two teenagers released on bail following Howard Estate incident

An 18-year-old man has been charged and two teenagers released on bail after a man had an “unknown liquid” thrown in his face in Bury St Edmunds

Kyelan Conaty, 18, from Elm Drive, Walsham-le-Willows has been charged with two counts of administering a noxious substance with intent to cause injury and has been remanded in custody to appear in court on Thursday, 23 July.

Two teenagers, 16 and 17, have been released on bail following an incident on the Howard Estate.

Emergency services attend the scene at St Olaves Precinct

Officers were called shortly after 6.40pm yesterday, Tuesday 21 July, following reports that a male had thrown an unknown liquid in the face of a man, aged in his 20s, while he was in the car park in St Olaves Precinct.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the man was taken to hospital for treatment after he sustained minor injuries. He was discharged from hospital the same evening.

Three teenagers aged 16, 17 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of assault and were questioned at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

The 16 and 17-year-old teenage boys have been released on bail and are due to return to police on 5 August.

Police say that they believe this to have been a targeted assault between parties known to each other.

Officers would be keen to hear from any further witnesses who may have been in the area shortly before or after the incident or who may have captured any dash-cam footage while driving nearby.
