Six men have been arrested following a reported armed assault in Thurston and a subsequent collision in Great Barton early Thursday morning.
Police were first called at 5:19am to reports that a group of males, believed to be carrying weapons, had entered a property in Barton Road, Thurston, where two men were assaulted in what officers believe to be a targeted attack. Just minutes later, at 5:25am, officers received a further report of a three-vehicle collision on Thurston Road in Great Barton, close to the junction with the A143.
A woman sustained facial injuries in the crash and was taken to hospital, though her injuries are not thought to be serious. One of the men assaulted in Thurston, aged in his 40s, suffered serious injuries to his foot as well as further injuries to his arm and was also taken to hospital. Another victim, a 24-year-old man, sustained a minor injury to his hand.
Two men, aged 18 and 22, who decamped from one of the vehicles involved in the collision, were arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of aggravated burglary. Further enquiries led officers to stop a vehicle in North London later in the day. Four men fled the car but were detained shortly afterwards. They are aged 17, 21, 21 and 24 and were also arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.
Police are appealing for witnesses to either the assault or the collision, particularly anyone who may have CCTV or video doorbell footage from the area, or dash-cam footage from vehicles travelling nearby at the time.
