Police recover stolen spaniel Mabel, but search continues for missing puppies

Police have recovered a two-year-old King Charles Spaniel stolen from a home in Bury St Edmunds, though her four puppies remain missing.

The theft took place between 12.50pm and 2.50pm on Tuesday 2 December at a property in Thetford Road, Coney West. An unknown man and woman reportedly forced entry by damaging the windows of the front door before obtaining a key. They then stole Mabel – a brown female King Charles Spaniel – along with her four five-week-old puppies. A cream jewellery box was also reported stolen.

Officers confirmed today that Mabel was located in Kent after being dropped over a fence. She has since been reunited with her owner.

Police are still appealing for information about the whereabouts of the puppies. Anyone who may know where they are, or who has been offered puppies for sale or is aware of someone who has recently acquired one, is urged to contact Suffolk Police quoting reference 37/68284/25.
