A man has died after being found by search teams looking for a missing Martin Canter

A man has died after being found by search teams who were looking for a missing person from Thurston.

Martin Canter, aged 62, had last been seen at his home in the village at around 10pm on Wednesday 8 November.

Extensive searches were carried out in and around Thurston yesterday, Thursday 9 November, with police officers assisted by Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue (SULSAR) and a National Police Air Service helicopter.

At just after midnight, a SULSAR team found a man unresponsive in woodland between Thurston and Great Barton. He was taken by ambulance to hospital but was sadly pronounced deceased there a short time later.

Formal identification procedures have not yet taken place, but officers believe this man to be Martin Canter and his next of kin have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner in due course.
