A man has been arrested following an incident in Bury St Edmunds.
Police were called just after 10:25pm yesterday, Wednesday 14 June, to reports that a woman had been stabbed in St Olaves Road.
The woman, aged in her 50s, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, where her condition is currently described as stable.
A 58-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm. He has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.
The car park at St Olaves shopping precinct has been cordoned off as police investigate the incident
