Man sustains serious injuries after colliding with a van in Bury St Edmunds

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Looms Lane, Bury St Edmunds, in which a pedestrian sustained serious injuries.

Officers were called by the ambulance service just before 7pm yesterday, Thursday 26 January, to reports of a collision between a van and a pedestrian.

A white Mercedes Sprinter van was involved in a collision with a man aged in his fifties near to the junction with Northgate Street.

The pedestrian was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment, with his injuries described as potentially life changing.

The road was initially closed while emergency services responded to the incident.

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision and are also appealing for anyone with a dash-camera fitted in their vehicle who was driving in the area around the time of the incident, to review the footage for anything that may be of assistance.
