West Suffolk Council has installed 18 new small electrical recycling points across the district to make it easier for residents to safely dispose of old gadgets and appliances.

The bright pink bins, positioned next to existing textile and glass recycling banks in Brandon, Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Newmarket, and Red Lodge, can accept small electrical items including mobile phones, tablets, cables, kettles, toasters, and children’s toys. The initiative is part of the nationwide Recycle Your Electricals campaign, supported by a £34,822 grant from the not-for-profit organisation Material Focus.

Cllr David Taylor, Cabinet Member for Operations, said: “These new recycling points provide a simple and convenient way to dispose of old gadgets safely. The initiative benefits the community and helps improve the district’s environmental resilience.”
