Our Bury St Edmunds to launch a new augmented realityEaster Egg trail around the town

The Easter Bunny is hopping over to Bury St Edmunds bringing a free family activity later this month with a little help from Our Bury St Edmunds and the LoyalFree app.

Launching on March 31 the family-friendly trail is set to revolutionize the traditional Easter Egg Hunt with the use of augmented reality technology. The trail is aimed at people of all ages who have until April 16 to take part – with those who complete the trail then having a chance to win one of three Our Bury St Edmunds Gift Cards, which can be spent in more than 60 places in the town centre.

One of the businesses taking part in the trail is Luna House Boutique in Buttermarket.  Anne Hawes, one of the owners, said: “This is such a fun idea and we were only too pleased to have one of the trail posters to display in our window.  I can’t wait to see the looks on participants’ faces as an Easter Egg appears in front of them.”

Participants can explore Bury St Edmunds town centre as they hunt for the “eggs-tra-ordinary” Easter eggs hidden at various locations. By simply finding the posters and scanning the AR markers using their smartphone camera, they can witness an Easter egg appearing right before their eyes!

Our Bury St Edmunds Business Support Manager Mike Kirkham said: “We are so egg-cited to offer this free, fun trail to local people and visitors to our historic town centre.  The trail is a great way to eggs-plore the wonderful streets and businesses here – and there’s a chance to win an Our Bury St Edmunds Gift Card too.”

Participants can also share their photos on social media using the hashtag #LFEGGHUNT to connect with others hunting for eggs in the area.
