Police close Springfield Road after man threatens harm

Police were forced to close a road in Bury St Edmunds on Friday evening after a man made threats to harm himself and responding officers.

Emergency services were called to Springfield Road at around 7:45pm on Friday, 31st January, following concerns for the man’s safety. Multiple police officers, including dog handlers, attended the scene, and reports suggest armed officers were also on site.

The man was arrested on suspicion of affray after making threats to harm both himself and the police officers present. He was taken to hospital for treatment and was later de-arrested.
