Albjon Metlekaj, 20, of High Street, Hounslow, Greater London, had been remanded on charges including possession with intent to supply cocaine and various motoring offences. On Sunday, he was taken to West Suffolk Hospital after complaining of chest pains.

However, he absconded from custody overnight. A coordinated search involving ground units and the police airplane led to his arrest in Bury St Edmunds town centre at around 5:30am this morning.

Metlekaj had originally been arrested in Newmarket on Saturday afternoon. He is now facing an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody and is set to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court later today.
