Local Elections take place across England including West Suffolk on Thursday 4 May 2023, and West Suffolk Council is reminding us about new rules around voting.
Voters will now need to bring and show photo ID to vote at polling stations. It’s after it was made a legal requirement to produce an approved ID such as a photo driving licence or a passport.
From October 2023 it will also apply to UK General elections.
If you don’t have an accepted photo ID, you can apply for a free voter ID document, which is known as a Voter Authority Certificate.
