A second man has been arrested in connection with an attempted murder investigation following a stabbing in Bury St Edmunds.
Police were called to reports of a serious incident in Mortimer Road, in the Moreton Hall area, at just before 10.15pm on Sunday, March 22.
A man in his 40s was found with stab wounds and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
It was reported that five suspects, wearing dark clothing and face coverings, fled the scene.
On Monday, March 30, a 38-year-old man was arrested in Bury St Edmunds on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has since been released on bail until June 29, pending further enquiries.
A second arrest was made earlier in the investigation on Wednesday, March 25, when a 44-year-old man from the Brixton area of south London was detained on suspicion of attempted murder. He was transported to Bury St Edmunds for questioning and later released on bail until May 29.
Detectives say a number of lines of enquiry are ongoing and have confirmed that three vehicles believed to be linked to the incident have been seized.
The vehicles are described as a black Nissan Note, a beige or light-coloured Nissan Note, and a black Nissan Micra.
Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen any of these vehicles in the Mortimer Road area on the night of the incident, including motorists with dashcam footage.
Police say additional uniformed patrols are continuing in the area to provide reassurance to the community.
