Bury St Edmunds Councillor quits after being suspended

Frank Warby councillor for Moreton Hall has decided to step down following allegations that he had shared inappropriate posts on social media.

Mr Warby, who has been a councillor for 21 years, has been part of an investigation following a complaint to West Suffolk Council last week. Frank along with wife Patsy has served the town of Bury St Edmunds for 37 years between them but feels the time has come to spend more time with his family of 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Speaking to RWSfm this morning Mr Warby said “I will still continue to help residents, you don’t have to be a councillor to help people”.

Mr Warby has always denied any wrong doing.

There has been huge support for the popular councillor on social media this weekend with some calling the complaint made against him nothing more than a witch hunt.

A West Suffolk Council spokesman said: “The council has received complaints about this councillor’s social media posts.” he added “the council does have strict equality guidelines which sets out how we believe that all people are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect”.
