RWSfm 103.3 has been awarded another extension to its licence from regulator OFCOM which will allow it to continue broadcasting until 2025.

The community radio station, which is a not for profit organization and has been broadcasting to Bury St Edmunds and surrounding villages since 2010 from its studios based on Hardwick Lane, provides the town with entertainment and information with a mixture of popular music and specialist music shows as well as local information, news, weather, traffic and local interviews.

The Station rose from the ashes of hospital radio. It is run entirely by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Breakfast show presenter and Station Manager Julie MacLeod said “we are delighted to be able to continue to broadcast to Bury and beyond, it is an honor for us to serve our community in this way”.

The station has also been given permission to increase its coverage to include more villages in West Suffolk and is currently fundraising to purchase the new transmitter that is required.

Drive time presenter and Deputy Station Manager Ryan McClean added “It has been an exciting 12 months for us, with the increase in power meaning that we will be able to reach further in to our local community and now being granted an extension for our licence”.

The station launched on Friday 13 August 2010 and this is the second extension that has been granted by OFCOM.
