Farmers from across East Anglia are preparing for another major protest to voice their discontent with recent government policies, including changes to inheritance tax. The demonstration is set to take place today (Monday, 3rd February), with a convoy of tractors travelling at slow speeds along the A14.
Suffolk Police have urged motorists to plan their journeys in advance as the protest is expected to cause significant delays. The convoy will move at approximately 20mph, potentially affecting traffic throughout the day.
The planned route is as follows:
- The convoy will set off from Levington, joining the A14 westbound at Junction 58 (Seven Hills) and travelling to Junction 43 (Bury St Edmunds Central).
- It will then exit at Junction 43 before making the return journey eastbound, heading to Dock Gate 1 in Felixstowe.
- Finally, the tractors will circle the Dock Gate 1 roundabout before heading westbound back to Levington, exiting between Junctions 59 and 58.

Protest organiser Mr Abbott emphasised that the demonstration is not just about taxation but also about the increasing challenge British farmers face due to food imports.
“We’re still competing with cheap imports through Felixstowe, the biggest port in the country. We are angry about the imports, and we think it’s high time to start thinking about our food security,” he said.
Mr Abbott also raised concerns about differing agricultural regulations, saying, “We have to stop this lower standard of stuff coming to us. It’s a big factor for British farmers as we’re governed by red tape so much. A lot of chemicals that we used years ago have been banned in this country. However, the imported food is grown using those chemicals. We can’t compete with it.”
The protest aims to bring attention to these pressing issues and push for policy changes that better support British farmers.
Suffolk Police are working closely with protest organisers and other agencies to ensure the demonstration remains peaceful and safe for all road users.
