For two weekends in September sites of historical interest in and around Bury St Edmunds will be open to the public for free, many of them allowing you to explore areas normally closed off to the public.
It’s all part of the popular Heritage Open Weekends, which this year is spread across two weekends.
Bury St Edmunds Guildhall will host a selection of talks, enactments and workshops whilst the St Edmunds Catholic Church and Chapel, one of the oldest in England, will display exhibitions of memorabilia.
Rougham Hall, which is usually closed to the public will open itâs gates to the public allowing visitors a rare chance to walk through the ruins, parkland and gardens whilst hearing the history of the building.
Some of the events are very popular and despite being free booking is required on the visit-burystedmunds.co.uk website.
