Large Fire Breaks Out at West Row Hair Salon

Firefighters responded to a significant blaze at a hair salon in West Row yesterday afternoon, Monday 7th October. The fire started at approximately 3:20PM, on the first floor and roof of the building. Emergency services quickly mobilised, with seven fire engines from nearby towns, including Mildenhall, Newmarket, and Cambridge, rushing to the scene. A turntable ladder from Bury St Edmunds was also brought in to assist.

The Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that multiple hose-reel jets were used to bring the flames under control. Suffolk Police are managing traffic in the area, and UK Power Networks has been alerted as a precaution.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said “there are no reported casualties” and added “A Fire Prevention Officer is due to visit the premises later today to liaise with the proprietors”.

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
