Owners left devastated after suspected arson at Pancake and Waffle Shack

A fire at a Mildenhall restaurant has left the owners devastated after “weeks of hard work” and “thousands of pounds spent” getting the business ready for reopened after lockdown.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue were called to the Pancake and Waffle shack in Mildenhall at 23:56 on Wednesday 4th June.

A tenant who lives above business the managed to escape and raise the alarm before the fire which was started skip was able to spread to the building.

Two fire appliances were sent – one from Mildenhall and one from Newmarket. A stop was called at 00:24.

A Suffolk Police spokeswoman said “Police were called shortly before midnight on 3 June following reports of a bin fire behind Pancake and Waffle Shack at the A11, Barton Mills”. She added that “Enquiries are ongoing”.

The fire services say that it is believed that the fire was started deliberately.
