Police appeal after collision in Badley

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the B1113 Stowmarket Road in Badley.

Officers were called at approximately 1:05pm yesterday, Wednesday 3 March, to reports of a collision between a car and a tipper truck near the Stowmarket business park, where the road goes from dual to single carriageway.

The car – a silver Toyota – was travelling towards Needham Mark when it was involved in a collision with the truck.

The driver of the truck, a man in his 70s, was out of the vehicle at the time of impact, however was struck by his own vehicle.

He sustained serious leg injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics and a volunteer from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) team, and was subsequently taken to Ipswich Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life changing or life threatening.

The fire service was called to assist with freeing the driver of the car, a man in his 60s, who was also taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment having sustained injuries including fractured ribs.

Road closures were put in place while the car and truck were recovered and an investigation was carried out.
