Police issue warning after fraudsters attempt to steal money by pretending to be Police officers

Police in Bury St Edmunds are warning us to be vigilant after a number of reports of fraudsters pretending to be police officers.

The fraudster has called the victim pretending to be a police officer claiming they have their carer in custody, having been found in a stolen car with sums of money.

They have tried to persuade the victims to draw money from their accounts. (To be collected later) and have asked them to call back on 191 to confirm their identity.

So far there have been no reports of money being lost, but Police are reminding us they will never ask for money or bank details.
