RAF Lakenheath warns of more air activity overnight starting tonight

RAF Lakenheath is warning of more air activity overnight this week.

The 48th Fighter Wing will be conducting night flying operations beginning tonight, running until the 4th, and again between Nov. 7-10.

During these dates, communities in East Anglia and around the United Kingdom may see or hear U.S. aircraft taking off, landing and transiting between RAF Lakenheath and training areas between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Training during hours of darkness provides both aircrews and support personnel stationed at RAF Lakenheath the experience needed to maintain a ready force capable of supporting mutual security agreements between the U.S. and U.K. in addition to ensuring the collective defense of NATO.

All training will be conducted in accordance with Ministry of Defence and U.K. airspace regulations. The USAF is advising anyone with any aircraft-related flying concerns to contact the MOD at SWK-lowflying@mod.gov.uk.
