Second man arrested following stabbing in Bury St Edmunds

A man who was stabbed in Bury St Edmunds remains in a critical condition, as police make a second arrest in connection with the incident.

Officers were called at 03:55am in the early hours of yesterday, Sunday 20 June, to reports that a man had been seriously injured following an incident on Winsford Road in the town.

Police located a man in his 40s in the road having sustained serious stab wounds. The victim was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by ambulance and remains in a critical condition.

Shortly after the incident, police arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and he was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning. Yesterday afternoon a teenaged man was also arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and taken into custody. Both men remain in custody at this time.

The road closures put in place around Winsford Road have now been lifted but a police scene remains in place whilst inquiries continue.
