As of 13 Mar, UK is in the âdelayâ phase of the governmentâs action plan to limit the spread of the virus.
Current UK Situation
- As of 9am on 28 April, 599,339 people have been tested, of whom 161,145 have tested positive. As of 5pm on 27 April, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 21,678 have died. Full details and latest numbers are available here.
- In Suffolk we have 987 confirmed cases. However, with routine community testing discontinued, these figures will not describe the full extent of cases locally. You can view the latest UK dashboard of cases by local authority here.

- From 29 April, published death numbers will include not just the number of deaths in hospital, but the number of deaths in care homes and in the community too.
- Daily testing capacity now stands at 73,400 (goal is 100,000 tests a day)
- In care homes, where itâs clinically appropriate, medicines that have been labelled for use by one patient can be used by another patient who needs them instead of being destroyed. This is already standard procedure in hospitals.

- Further expansion of access to coronavirus testing – anyone in England with coronavirus symptoms who either has to leave home to go to work or is aged 65 and over will now be able to get tested.

- BBC: France’s authorities have set out how they plan to exit lockdown from 11 May, including making face masks compulsory on public transport and in secondary schools (pupils aged 11-15).

Suffolk Learning Disability Partnership Response: The Suffolk Learning Disability Partnership have set up a no-reply WhatsApp group to share information during the COVID-19 pandemic. They will be sharing useful information, accessible information and resources and updates that may be useful for people with a learning disability, their families, carers and support. School Travel: With the majority of children being educated at home this is a challenging time for parents and carers however we still need them to opt-in for SCC funded School Travel if their child is eligible. Parents must opt in by 31 May 2020 to receive travel for the start of the 2020/2021 school term. If their child already received funded travel you still need to opt in every year. LGBT+ Domestic Abuse helpline: Galop UK are an LGBT+ anti-violence charity who provide Hate Crime, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence support services to LGBT+ victims/survivors by telephone, email, text. - WHO RISK ASSESSMENT (Global Level) – Very High
- WHO Covid-19 Dashboard for professionals using near real time data. The number of confirmed cases reported by countries reflects national laboratory testing capacity and strategy, thus the interpretation of the number of cases reported should take this into account.
- The Global Outbreak Alert and Response Network (GOARN) has launched a GOARN COVID-19 Knowledge hub. The hub is designed as a central repository of quality public health information, guidance, tools and webinars which can be accessed freely at any point.
- WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros, in his regular media briefing yesterday, highlighted âAs lockdowns in Europe ease with declining numbers of new cases, we continue to urge countries to find, isolate, test and treat all cases of COVID-19 and trace every contact, to ensure these declining trends continueâ.
