Sam’s Weekly Weather Report
Hello again everyone! Sorry that I couldn’t do last weeks’ weather report. Whenever there will be a weather report that won’t be posted, it will be because that I won’t be feeling well, because I was ill last week. But, as I did mention, it is turning hotter into the 2nd half of June and this heat could extend into July, but before that, I have been expecting a cool down at the end of the month for quite some time now. And if some parts of my report look a bit odd (for example headlines), it will just be that they got a bit muddled and messed up when sent.
My thunderstorm videos and photos
I wasn’t doing nothing… In fact… I was up and out filming thunderstorms to view the wonderful atmospheric sounds and views they bring.
Upcoming week
The endless thunderstorms and gusty winds that we all have been experiencing for the first half of the month will be a lot less frequent and intense than they have been. As high pressure from the south extends (due to the sinking air of the atmosphere) it will bring fine and sunny weather, with winds continuing to come in from a W to SW direction. Temperatures stay high of around 26c-27c, perhaps even reaching heatwave thresholds of 28c. But in order for a real heatwave, we need 3 consecutive days of +28c. Since there isn’t a lot of low pressure about in the Atlantic, extremely high sea surface temperatures, not a lot of instability, these are the key things that are allowing the heat to stay trapped underneath us like a bubble. And the theme goes on really, as I expected at the start of the month. Because high pressure is likely to continue to bring hot and sunny conditions for about the next 10 days, before a low pressure system off the Atlantic pushes the hot air away.
Some weather tips
I’ve got some fun facts actually that I found out myself. Remember February 2023… It was the driest February for the UK, then March 2023 was the wettest March. June 2023 was the hottest June, then June 2024 was a cool June. July 2022 was the hottest and driest July for all countries in the UK, then July 2023 was the wettest for Northern Ireland. Summer 2022 was the hottest and driest summer, then summer 2023 was the 7th wettest summer. The first half of October 2023 was hot and dry(for this part of the UK), then the second half turned cold and wet. The first half of October 2024 was cold and wet, the second half was mild and dry. The first half of November 2023 was wet, the first half of November 2024 was dry. The middle of November 2023 was mild, the middle of November 2024 was cold. The end of November 2023 was cold, the end of November 2024 was mild. The first week of January 2024 was mild, wet and stormy. Surely you all remember Storm Henk! And I clearly don’t have to go over what happens next lol 😉 Spring 2024 was the wettest spring, guess what, we have now had one of the driest springs! The end of June 2024 was hot and dry…
Conclusion
So, I hope that all makes a lot of sense everyone. There wouldn’t be anything that I would make. I understand that those were mostly to do with the UK as a whole with those tips, considering the fact at the time the weather was practically the same throughout the whole nation. But just remember that we are the hottest place in the UK, there are many websites that can get things wrong, such as on Friday my new weather station recorded a temperature of 30.8c and it was forecasted to only reach 28c. The unpredictability of global warming is increasing on a massive scale.
