Voting is open for the annual Our Bury St Edmunds best dressed Christmas window competition. Once again it will be shoppers, customers and visitors to the town centre who will decide who holds the right to display the winner’s shield for the next 12 months. Everyone who votes using the LoyalFree app will be eligible for a prize draw to win one of three Our Bury St Edmunds Gift Cards that can be spent in more than 60 different town centre businesses.
All the businesses taking part are listed as a special trail on the app to make it easy for them all to be viewed. The app is free to download and voting in the competition is also free. Voting opened today (Monday November 21) and runs until Sunday December 4 with the winner being announced in the days following. The Business Improvement District (BID) which organises this festive competition has seen the standard of decoration get higher every year.
Mike Kirkham from Our Bury St Edmunds said: “Last year’s winner LOFT & SPIRES, are back for another try this year. They have an impressive track record over the last few years but there are some giving them a run for their money again such as Baileys 2 which was a runner up last year and former winner Javelin. We hope users of the app will use the trail to have a look at as many as possible before casting their vote. Our businesses put so much hard work into their shop windows at this time of year and with a chance to win a prize too we hope to see plenty of customers voting for their favourites.
“It’s a big weekend in the town coming up with lots of different activities so we hope visitors will take the opportunity to follow our Christmas window trail and perhaps find some extra special places to buy gifts as well as choosing their favourite display.”
The annual competition is being promoted in partnership with Bury St Edmunds Town Council and Town Mayor Peter Thompson will present the Our Bury St Edmunds Shield to the winning business. Further information about how to vote is available by downloading the LoyalFree app or by visiting www.ourburystedmunds.com.
