Fire crews attend fire at British Sugar factory in Bury St Edmunds

Thirteen fire crews from across the region have attended an incident at the British Sugar factory in Bury St Edmunds this evening, Sunday 24th October.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue said “crews from across the county (are) currently assisting. Crews (are) working hard, good progress being made”.

“We mobilised the following fire appliances: 1 from Woodbridge, 2 from Haverhill, 1 from Wickhambrook, 3 from Bury St Edmunds, 1 from Elmswell, 2 from Ixworth, 1 from Mildenhall, 2 from Newmarket”.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue were called to the scene at just after 7 pm. Bystanders said that Alarms could be heard coming from the factory.

Suffolk fire and Rescue confirmed that a spot was called on the incident at 21:22.
