RWSfm 103.3 Joined up with more than 80 other stations around the UK to celebrate Local Radio Day on Friday 25 May. Now in its third year, Local Radio Day has established itself as a platform for local radio stations across the sector to come together and celebrate local radio itself and the engagement it has with the people, communities and areas it broadcasts to.
This year RWSfm 103.3 and Bury St Edmunds County Upper School celebrated the day by teaming up to bring listeners the local news, Weather and sport. RWSfm’s news team worked with students at the school to research, write and record the bulletins which were broadcast on the airways throughout the day.
English teacher at County Upper School, Sally Phillips said “We thought it was a great opportunity for our students to gain a better understanding of the skills needed to research and plan their stories within the excitement of a newsroom atmosphere. The fact they get to hear their broadcasts on air will be a fantastic result after all their hard work”.
