A young Bury St Edmunds school football team are now stepping out in style thanks to a grant from UK Power Networks.
Dressed in their new kit the Year 5 team from Abbotts Green Academy are now playing and winning matches in a local league.
The £250 towards their new kit was awarded through Faith Nyakupinda who is a technical support assistant in the Bury St Edmunds UK Power Networks office.
She said her son first played with the team in reception and is still playing in the team with his year 5 classmates.
Faith said that the boys, the school and their parents were very pleased to have the support from her employers which has really boosted them.
Hundreds of community and sports groups have benefited from grants since the scheme was set up. During 2021, 77 teams benefitted to a combined sum of £19,250.
The Team Sport Award scheme encourages UK Power Networks staff to volunteer in the community and is aimed at promoting healthy living, teamwork and developing sporting opportunities.
